Canada Launches $730 Million Clean Energy Fund

rene_flag

Canadian officials just announced the launch of the Clean Energy Fund, which will invest $730 million in technology research, development and demonstration for cleantech projects.

Roughly three quarters of the commitment is for large-scale carbon capture and sequestration demonstration projects and about one quarter is slated for small-scale demonstration projects of renewable and alternative energy technologies.

“By investing in the Clean Energy Fundy, our government is encouraging new technologies now to help protect and preserve our environment for future generations,” said Lisa Raitt, Canada’s minister of Natural Resources. The additional stimulus, Raitt added, “creates high-quality jobs for Canadians at a time when they’re most needed.”
