Actually, people do think about the grid when talking about EVs. I know because I speak on the subject all over the country and I get questions on the viability of the grid every time. As the story says, the utilities are aware of the issue and they are taking steps to deal with it. The important issue here is getting the heck off of oil ASAP. We're staring at peak oil in the face and it's big, ugly and is going to kick our collective butts in just a few months. Our economy is going to get ruined by this monster and THAT is the problem. When gas hits north of $4/gallon this summer, and never comes down again, you'll wish like hell grid reliability was your biggest problem.

Are you in line to get a Volt or LEAF? I've already got my LEAF, a RAV EV and a PV system to generate all my kWh. If you're not in line for one, you're going to be surprised how long the line is already. Best be looking into it now.

People rarely think of the grid when talking about electric vehicles, and while the numbers are quite low today, it's important for utilities to ensure their infrastructure is ready for the impending boom - it's only a matter of time!
