Dell
Like the other tech giants on this list, Dell has focused considerable attention on clean energy and energy efficiency. It uses the fourth most renewable energy of any major US company and it became carbon neutral in 2008. Dell is using all of the power generated from Waste Management’s Austin landfill-gas-to-energy plant to meet 40 percent of Dell headquarters’ campus needs. The remaining 60 percent is purchased from nearby wind farms. But the company is also working on keeping stuff out of the landfill with successful computer recycling programs Dell was also the first in the industry to commit to keeping e-waste out of developing nations.
