Wow! Amazing giveaway! Thank you so, so much for even having a giveaway like this. I’m following Earth & Industry on twitter (http://tinyurl.com/y3wpey3) and I shared/tweeted about this post (http://tinyurl.com/yyv2fzb)!

Based on what I know about the desktop and display, these machines would help my office because they’re reliable and fantastic for the environment. Knowing that they’re green and helping the environment..word will spread and hopefully, people will ditch their nasty machine and go green with HP!

Community Farm Connection is a non-profit that connects local farmers with their community in Wenatchee, WA. We operate a small retail produce market and a CSA that provide healthy and local food to our region. We donate much of our non-sale items to local ‘soup’ kitchens and compost the rest.

    • Nick Chambers

Oh yeah, I also subscribe to ecopolitology on FB… and Community Farm Connection is in desperate need of a new computer. As a non-profit we don’t have much money :)

  • Jeff Abbott

Became a fan of Ecopolitology and Earth and Industry on FB. My employer (EMC)is desparately trying to get on the green train. They do a lot interally. They are also trying to understand how our product line plays in to green tech such as smart grid.

    Hey now,
Signed up to your facebook earth & industry page. Not much of a twitter girl but like that I can follow on facebook. Our website isn’t up and running yet, but it will be up by Mother’s Day Weekend. The HP computer would be perfect for our workplace as we are in the process of opening a store in Georgetown, CO called “Earth Friendly Goods”. We are selling organic based products (soaps, lotions, make-up, cleaners), recycled art, such as computer parts that have been made to jewelry, setting up a local plant nursery with organic fertilizers, selling organic fruits and vegetables and finally we are setting up a knowledge center highlighting the vendors that we carry and green news as it is updated. We need a computer for our Point of Sale software and what a great way to contribute to what are trying to do for our store and community. Not only do we hope to affect our community but the many travelers up & down the I-70 corridor.

I have just become of fan of Earth & Industry! Your site looks amazing. I look forward to learning how to live as a better steward of the earth (even while working in corporate america)!

Here’s my answer for the green computer give away:

I work for a software company where almost every employee has 2 monitors, plus a computer. I’d love to win this eco-friendlier computer and test it out. Imagine if my company purchased this computer for every employee. Imagine the impact of replacing our energy-sucking computers with these energy-reducing computers! Glorious!

  • Jennifer Phillips

I don’t know if self employed are included in this, but I will try. I l joined greenUpgrader and Earth & Industry on Facebook Jennifer Allen Phillips.

What I do is I reclaim items to use in my artwork and jewelry I make. I also recycle gold and silver and gemstones from broken and damaged jewelry people do not want to wear anymore. I use old glass and plates in my mosaics so they do not end up in the trash and I pick it out of the woods and sanitize it before using it so I am picking up trash and cleaning the Earth at the same time. I try to use only and all Earth safe products in my work.

This computer would help me stay green fwhile getting my art and jewelry pieces online for sale and not use my old 98 Gateway that sucks power. I hope I am eligible for this as I could use it and I want to be green too. But I am not working for a big company. There is just me and I try to be green in all areas of my life. Thank you.

What is your office doing to reduce energy use, cut waste or make it a healthier environment for everyone who works there? For us we are being super aware of what needs to be copied or printed, conserving lights by turning them off or dimming them in the day and opening the windows, turning off what we can when we go to lunch and I try to work from home when possible; not only does that use less energy in the office but also I’m not driving. Plus we recycle “Everything”!

What could your workplace be doing in that regard in 2010? We definitely need to be conscious of the AC, install an electronic thermostat regulator and replace the lighting to be more efficient. Also in terms of a healthier environment we encourage meditation, frequent stretching and walking.

I Tweeted this great contest and message on twitter from @DallasCyr and posted on my Facebook page at Dallas M Cyr. Also I joined your fanpage and am following your Twitter account. Thank you for creating more awareness and offering the opportunity to share and win.

I’m a fan of all the Live Oak facebook sites. Considering that I end up leaving my computer on all the time – and it’s fan goes all the time – it would be way better if I was using this more eco machine. I’m a student and I do all my reading online (no paper!) so the more efficient my computer is, the better.

I have become of a fan of ecopolitology. My Office computer broke and with little money for a new one I will be buying a dated, inefficient model built with toxic materials. My office mission is getting people to stop leaving lights on in empty rooms and sort their recycling.

    The winner: Felicia Allegra Peck

  • Jessica Y.

Congrats to the winner! Dang, I read that “one entry per person per website” and thought it meant I could only enter on one website. :P

    • http://ecopolitology.org Timothy B. Hurst

      Hi Jessica-

Don’t feel bad, most everyone read the contest that way, so in the end, I decided that everyone would get just one name in the hat.
