So now is the time to introduce regenerative braking in over the road trailers. You will have a bank of batteries needing recharging during the next leg of the trip; let wheel mounted generators do it. A secondary benefit would be reduced wear on brake friction material and an extra bonus of downhill speed control. Cruise control in reverse, without heating up the brakes.

That i almost what we have developed at Direct Drive Energy, LLC , we are based in Iowa, and I have developed a Fuel-Less APU System, called, ” DDE-X Rolling Thunder ™ Fuel-Less APU’s .

We have a proprietary patent pending kinetic energy harvesting system that has an enclosed system with a follower wheel that makes contact with the trailer tire duals and as the trailer is going down the road at interstate speeds we collect some of this motion and make around 30kw of DC electric power, and have around a 50,000 watt hr battery bank, the we use this system the Rolling-Thunder(tm) for Fuel-Less APU , this product is brand new, it will be available for Beta testing by Aug 15, 2011.

This unit will have the capacity to cool and cool well even in 100+ F temperatures

Direct Drive Energy, LLC has founded around our primary patented technology to use an even larger scale mobile power conditioning and generating system to power the needs of Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU’s) off of the stored and generated kinetic energy, we create a hybrid kit that retro-fitts unto any existing reefer TRU making them then by default a hybrid diesel/electric TRU’s.

Part of the reason that I have invented this system and have a passion for Cleantech is because I was in the ARMY and had to fight for oil, and oil almost killed me , so now I want to kill oil. Look at us more at http://www.4dde.com/index_files/Page388.htm
